The Chinese had a long history of immigrating to the United States, they all wanted a better life. All they did was taking the most dangerous jobs to earn a living. Mining the gold, washing laundries, and serving everyone in the society. But people just don't have a great impression of them. The idea of white supremacy is strong in here, white people don't think that the Chinese are good enough to be equal or part of the society because they are from a different race and their skin color is not white.
Since the Chinese Exclusion Act, the racism gotten extremely serious that the white people don't want any Chinese to come into the country anymore. Just like that, the Chinese were excluded for 61 years. Some say the stereotypes and racism had improved because the US and China became allies and both sides accepted each other more, but really that's not the case. The stereotypes were just focused in different areas rather than just saying "the Chinese are dangerous because they are not white and they steal our jobs."Currently, people refer Chinese to be rich and selfish people who are smart and only think about themselves.
So, do you guys agree on how stereotypes are changing through this time and how can this problem be improved?
