For those who are interested in extra credit opportunities, here are three prompts. You may complete them anytime this semester as long as I receive them by the end of class.
PROMPT 1: REVIEW AN ASIAN AMERICAN CULTURAL PRODUCTION
Experience (read/view/see) a cultural production written/made/directed/produced by an Asian American of any ethnicity. Be sure that it's not already assigned for the course. Cultural productions include: poems, short stories, novels, films, paintings, spoken word, nonfiction essay, performances, dance, etc. Write a 2-page review of this cultural production. Link the cultural production back to assigned course materials and use at least two quotes from our texts to analyze the cultural production. Cite your sources at the end of those relevant sentences and in a works cited list. Analyze the meaning, tone, format, or anything else that seems relevant. Stay on topic. Don't talk about other performances or works. Your review essay should be double-spaced, 12" font, 1" margins, in a standard academic font. As long as you fulfill the requirements you will receive credit. This essay will raise two of your short responses to a 5/5 grade.
